6 Bomber Group July 24/25, 1943

47 Halifaxes from 408, 419, 427, and 428 Squadrons were joined by 21 Wellingtons from 429 and 432 Squadrons on an attack at Hamburg. The crews were over the target at between 16,000 and 21,000 feet, releasing 94,000 lbs of high explosives and 222,000 lbs of incendiaries. This was the first time window was used. 405 City of Vancouver Squadron (Ducimus), Pathfinder Force. BROTHER to Albert Benjamin McLellan. Halifax aircraft HR811 was hit by flak over enemy territory on July 25, 1943.Warrant Officer McLellan succumbed to his wounds while in the Addenbrook Hospital.
