19 Operational Training Unit. Whitley aircraft BD 349 caught fire at 11,000 feet, went into a dive at 2,000 feet and crashed in the North Sea some 2 miles out from Balintore, in an area called the Moray Firth, Scotland. Four RAF crew members, Sgts. G.G. Scott, J.E. Millar, C.E. Hughes, and P/O. R.T. Meek and one Canadian, Sergeant Thomas McGee RCAF, were all killed.
