The aircraft was claimed by multiple flak batteries: Reserve Flak Abteilung 801, Reserve Flak Abteilung 232, Reserve Flak Abteilung 907 and 5/Schwere Flakers Abteilung 6. The Wellington crashed near Wittorf, Germany, South-West of Frankfurt, mid-way between Stuttgart and Nuremberg
Sergeant Raymond Dean (RAFVR) and Sergeant Alexander Mackenzie (RAFVR) were both killed in action.
Warrant Officer 1st Class Murray Gerald Bowen (RCAF), Flight Lieutenant Harry Albert Goodwin DFC (RAFVR), Flight Lieutenant Harry Hubert Henderson (RAF) and Pilot Officer William Dermot Moore (RAFVR) all survived to become Prisoners of War
