401 Ram Sqn (Mors celerrima hostibus) RAF Lympne. Flight Sergeant Morton Haist Buckley (RCAF) was missing, presumed killed in action when his Spitfire IX aircraft BS 157 YO- was shot down on his second sortie of the day, when he and 401 Sqn pilot Flight Lieutenant James Whitham DFC (RCAF) were attacked by multiple German Focke-Wulf 190 aircraft. Flight Lieutenant Whitham shot down one of the attackers but he was later shot down and killed in action nine days later escorting bombers over Amiens, France
