401 Ram Squadron (Mors celerrima hostibus) RAF Lympne. Flight Sergeant Morton Haist Buckley (RCAF) was missing, presumed killed in action when his Spitfire IX aircraft BS 157 YO- was shot down on his second sortie of the day, when he and 401 Squadron pilot Flight Lieutenant James Whitham DFC (RCAF) were attacked by multiple German Focke-Wulf 190 aircraft. Flight Lieutenant Whitham shot down one of the attackers but he was later shot down and killed in action nine days later escorting bombers over Amiens, France

Flight Sergeant Buckley has no known grave and is commemorated on the Runnymede War Memorial
