66 Squadron (Cavete Praemonui) RAF Tangmere. Flight Sergeant Ronald Harvey Loyns (RCAF) was missing, presumed killed in action when his Spitfire Vc aircraft AB 517 was shot down at sea by a German Focke-Wulf 190, ten miles west of Dieppe, France while escorting Boston bomber aircraft returning from an operation. Flight Sergeant Loyns body was not recovered and has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial
