While on a tactical reconnaissance flight, Flying Officer Hedley reported by radio/telephone that he had lost oil pressure on the engine of his Spitfire aircraft RM 821 and that the engine had failed. As he baled from the aircraft, his parachute entangled with the tail assembly.
