401 Ram Squadron (Mors Celerrima Hostibus) RAF Biggin Hill. Flying Officer Clarence Alfred Blake Wallace (RCAF) was flying Spitfire presentation aircraft AB 991 YO- named "Brierley Hill" on a cross-channel sweep over Gravelines, France when he was engaged by a large group of German FW 190 and ME109 aircraft. Flying Officer Wallace was among those who failed to return, believed lost over the English Channel. He has no known grave but is commemorated on both the Runnymede and Battle of Britain Memorials
