1 Service Flying training School, Camp Borden, Ontario, Canada. LAC Clayton Peder Hopton (RCAF), a student pilot flying Nomad 3503 was engaged in a formation flying exercise with two other Nomad aircraft when they encountered snowy conditions. LAC Hopton, lost in reduced visibility of the the snow squalls, fell behind the other two aircraft. Sadly, he was killed when his Nomad 3503 crashed into a swampy area near Everett, Ontario.
Four additional airmen were killed in a mid-air collision over Lake Muskoka while searching for Leading Aircraftman Hopton the following day
