3 Squadron (Tertius Primus Erit), RAF Hunston. Hurricane IIc aircraft BD 867 QO-Y was shot down by flak while attacking gun positions in Dieppe Harbour with his aircraft's four Hispano 20mm cannons and crashed into the sea nine miles south of Dieppe, France.
Flight Sergeant Stirling David Banks (RCAF) was originally missing, presumed killed in action. His body was recovered 1942-09-25 at sea and he was buried in France
