11 Bomber Reconnaissance Squadron, RCAF Station Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Lockheed Hudson III aircraft BW 653 was part of a four aircraft anti-submarine patrol when worsening weather conditions with blowing snow and fog caused two of the aircraft to become lost and run low on fuel. Hudson BW 653 was abandoned and the crew baled safely onto a frozen lake near Shediac, New Brunswick. The entire crew survived and were rescued after five days on the ice

Sadly, the second lost 11 Squadron Hudson, BW 453 OY-J crashed with the loss of the entire four man crew

The remaining two Hudson's and crews on the patrol returned safely to base
