6 Bomber Group July 6, 1944

31 Lancaster from 408 and 419 squadrons were joined by 59 Halifaxes from 424, 427, 429, and 433 squadrons on an attack of a V-1 storage site at Siracourt. The crews were over the target at between 12,000 and 13,000feet, releasing 746,000 lbs of high explosives. According to reports, the target was free of cloud and bombing was accurate. 551 aircraft - 314 Halilaxers 210 Lancasters, 26 Mosquitoes, 1 Mustang - attacked 5 targets, Only I aircraft was lost, a 6 Group Halifax from a raid on Siracourt flying¬bomb store. Four of the targets were clear of cloud and were believed to have been bombed accurately but no results were seen at the Foret-de-Croc launching site.
